The Lise Wilhelmsen Art Award Program (LWAAP), established in 2019, aimed to establish itself as a serious international player in art awards. With a prize of $100,000, which is the largest of its kind in Norway and one of the most significant internationally, it was crucial to communicate credibility and relevance. The challenge was to develop a visual identity and website that could promote the program and inform about the winners, the jury, and the background of the award.
To address this challenge, we started with a survey of existing art awards and the design language in the segment. Through a thorough analysis of the segment, we gained insight into what is required to appear as a credible actor on the international art scene. This insight was crucial for designing a strategy that could position LWAAP as a prominent and respected art award.
The main strategy was to develop a minimalist but recognizable visual identity that would not overshadow the art, but rather put the focus on the new artists that the program wants to highlight. The visuals surrounding the brand were carefully designed to reflect this balance. This was a successful collaboration between the customer and us, where we worked closely to ensure that the result met their vision and goals.
We delivered a complete visual identity and an informative and engaging website. The new identity and website enabled LWAAP to promote itself effectively, inform about award winners and the jury, and convey Lise Wilhelmsen's legacy and vision in a clear and inspiring way. The client was very satisfied with the result, which helped them establish themselves as a credible and important player in the art world.
